00 Inlays

My latest 00 is getting a nice white pearl rosette with black/white/black accent bands. I only use wood strips instead of the plastic black/white/black pre-made strips. I like the natural tones that the wood strips provide. They can be a challenge to work with, but the results are worth it.

Once the rosette is installed, the top can be taken down to the final thickness. This is Engelman spruce, and is pretty stiff, so final thickness will likely be around 2.6mm or so. But I'll let the wood talk to me and I voice the top.

Builders' tip: the green bean bag in the second photo almost never leaves the work bench. It is an indispensable third hand. I have a few of them with different sizes or weights.
