Gibson J-45 Week
Last week I had three Gibson J-45s in the shop. I see these every now and then, but three at the same time for a small shop like mine was unique. One was a simple setup. One is in for neck rash from hanging on a guitar hanger that reacted with the nitro finish. The really interesting one was a mid-60s burst with a destroyed bridge.
Instead of retaining the adjustable bridge, we decided to replace it with a standard reverse-belly bridge. This resulted in almost 0.8 oz in weight savings by disposing of the brass hardware, screws and bolts from the adjustable bridge. The old pin and bolt holes were filled and leveled inside and out. I also converted it to unslotted bridge pins. Hot hide glue for this!
